Running with Epilepsy

Up until 6 years ago, I was a regular working mum with two children having to deal with the average day-to-day challenges everyone faces. Then I was diagnosed with epilepsy. After some life changing experiences of breaking my jaw in 2016 and beyond the physical wounds my life fell into a dark hole. My confidence was shot and my driving license was confiscated adding to the loss of my independence. Then a couple of years ago I found out about Run To Be and started running. I found everyone so welcoming despite my disability.

Running has hugely helped my recovery and mental health. It makes me feel stronger, physically and emotionally.

I am proud to have completed many RTB courses and learning techniques which I never thought I could do (including completing a 5km race) and I thoroughly enjoy meeting lots of new people as well as seeing some familiar faces and making friends. The mentors have been a huge support too, always ensuring I am ok and always comfortable to discuss my needs.

I really enjoy helping people and I am extremely happy that I will officially be part of the RTB team from January 2020.
